Artist's Statement

"A Rhapsody in Blues"

I created this website in order to showcase my new abstract mixed media paintings, a series I call "Ocean Waves". As it is with all my work for the past 20 years, these canvasses have been inspired by the classical music that I listen to while I paint. For "Ocean Waves", however, I researched classical compositions with marine themes, as the sea was my source of inspiration for these pieces. I live by the Atlantic Ocean and I am able to see it from all the windows in my home/studio. Looking out at the ocean while I paint is inspirational - the view is endless. I see all shades of blue and aqua mixed with light green hues. Where the sea joins the sky at the horizon, that image is what I try to depict in my "Ocean Waves" canvases. My goal is to share this experience with the viewers and, at the same time, encourage them to search for and listen to the timeless music that inspired these paintings.
